AS one of the most preferred Australian universities in Malaysia, Swinburne’s Sarawak branch-campus was set up 2000 and is the only international branch-campus of Swinburne University of Technology based in Melbourne.

One hundred per cent employability (for selected Business and Engineering programmes) and global employer demand:

Based on the last graduate tracer study conducted by the university’s career office, graduates reported up to a 100% employment rate for numerous business and engineering courses while the overall employment rate came in at a high 93%.

This is attributable to the strong emphasis placed on high quality, engaged teaching and learning – is no surprise that Swinburne graduates are hired by the top 100 global brands (Interbrand Best Global Brands 2016 Rankings), which includes Google, IBM, Apple, Citibank, Shell, Amazon and Accenture.

From foundation studies to bachelor’s, master’s and PhD programmes, students choose pathways to suit their interests and career aspirations. Its foundation studies, for example, lead to a host of degree programmes in business, computing, design, engineering and science programmes accredited by professional bodies and identical to those at its home campus in Melbourne, Australia – this means when a Swinburne Sarawak undergraduate completes his studies, he is awarded the same Australian degree as his peers in Melbourne.

In 2016, Swinburne was ranked for the first time in the QS rankings for world-class graduate employability, reinforcing Swinburne as a university that provides practical career outcomes for its graduates.

Swinburne's position as a world-class university was recognised in the

2016 Times Higher Education’s Top 100 most international universities rankings. Alongside Swinburne’s second consecutive appearance in the 2015 QS Top 100 Under 50, these rankings reinforce Swinburne as a university with a depth of expertise in teaching and research, both in Australia and internationally.

Swinburne was also ranked one of the world’s top 500 universities by the prestigious 2016 Academic Ranking of World Universities (ARWU). Swinburne achieved a top 75 ranking in the ARWU in the field of civil engineering and has ranked in the top 200 institutions in the world in science.

Swinburne has been named one of the world’s top 400 universities by the Times

Swinburne has also been recognised as having one of the best design schools in the world by the 2016 QS World Rankings of Universities by Subject. The university was one of only three institutions in Melbourne to be listed in the top 50 for the Art and Design subject area.

Besides obtaining a globally recognised degree, tertiary education at Swinburne Sarawak is only a fraction of the cost of studying abroad and with the cost of living in Kuching lower compared to other major towns in Malaysia, Swinburne Sarawak is an attractive option for many students from Peninsular Malaysia because of direct flights from Kuala Lumpur, Penang, Johor Baru and Kota Baru.

Although an entire course may be completed at Swinburne Sarawak, degree students may also transfer to the Melbourne campus to complete them or go on a semester abroad via the Student Exchange Programme while paying local fees.

With more than 4,000 students from over 60 countries and experienced teaching staff from many parts of the world, the campus offers a rich learning experience with an international flavour.

A higher return on investment: Holistic university experience:

Swinburne Sarawak students are encouraged to join any of the 40 extracurricular sports and recreational clubs. These offer a holistic university experience and provide fun activities, which help mould students into well-rounded individuals.

As a university of technology, Swinburne Sarawak also has advanced facilities. Scholarships and study loans

Newly enrolled students with public exam results that meet the criteria may be eligible for scholarships. The university also assists with applications for scholarship and financial aids offered by state agencies and loans from government-linked agencies such as Mara, PTPTN and Yayasan Sarawak while scholarships are also offered by private and charitable bodies through the university.
