Pre­sented by The Phil­har­monic So­ci­ety of Se­lan­gor, Songs For Us is a con­cert that will trans­port us to ex­tra­or­di­nary mo­ments in our lives, bring­ing back fond mem­o­ries and con­nect­ing us to one an­other and to our com­mu­nity. Un­der­scor­ing 60 years of Merdeka, the Choir of The Phil­har­monic So­ci­ety of Se­lan­gor, a PJ-based com­mu­nity choir, will per­form songs that cel­e­brate and re­veal the di­ver­sity that uni­fies us and the friend­ships that build a har­mo­nious com­mu­nity. As it is a com­mu­nity choir, pro­ceeds from the con­cert will be chan­nelled to­wards var­i­ous char­ity or­gan­i­sa­tions in the course of the year.

Tick­ets: RM50 and RM70 (free seat­ing).

The PTA and the school are or­gan­is­ing this car­ni­val to raise funds for the up­keep of the school. Lots of food, fun and games in store. You can also get your face painted, have a good fright at the Haunted House, and soar to the skies and gaze at the “night sky” in the amaz­ing in-dome Star­lab, first time ever out of PetroSains KLCC.

This is a yearly CSR ini­tia­tive or­gan­ised by Frost & Sullivan, with 100% of the pro­ceeds from the en­try fees be­ing do­nated to Mercy Malaysia. This bal­let per­for­mance is pre­sented by San­dance Bal­let Stu­dio. Bal­let Blanc (White Bal­let) con­sists of a reper­toire from clas­si­cal bal­lets like Giselle, as well as new chore­og­ra­phy that em­bod­ies the essence of in­no­cence and pu­rity. It is also based on myth­i­cal crea­tures such as sprites, fairies and wilis. Terre (Earth) will have a more grounded feel as the dances here are based on the fragile and vul­ner­a­ble qual­i­ties of hu­mans. Bal­let Noir (Black Bal­let) em­bod­ies sin­is­ter and mys­te­ri­ous traits. It also en­com­passes the flam­boy­ance of the dances from Don Quixote, as well as new chore­og­ra­phy that ex­em­pli­fies Span­ish flair.

Pre­sented by Ja­son Yap and Sil­ver Yee, and The Ac­tors Stu­dio Seni Teater Rakyat, Yap and Yee un­veil their chore­o­graphic de­but in this ful­l­length dance per­for­mance that fo­cuses on re­la­tion­ships, with “killing” as a metaphor we live by. Cur­rently pur­su­ing their stud­ies in dance overseas, this is Yap and Yee’s first full-length work on home soil.

Hep­ati­tis A,B, C, D and E af­fects hun­dreds of mil­lions of peo­ple world­wide, caus­ing acute and chronic liver dis­ease and killing close to 1.5 mil­lion peo­ple ev­ery year. These in­fec­tions can be pre­vented. In con­junc­tion with World Hep­ati­tis Day 2017, Columbia Asia Hos­pi­tal is or­gan­is­ing this talk by their con­sul­tant physi­cian and gas­troen­terol­o­gist, Dr Andy Easwaren Va­sude­van. Sign up for a hands-on begin­ner-friendly Jomon pot­tery-mak­ing ex­pe­ri­ence. These classes are con­ducted by a grad­u­ate of Tokyo Univer­sity of The Arts. Learn about the an­cient Ja­panese Jomon Pe­riod and its sig­nif­i­cance his­tor­i­cally, cul­tur­ally and spir­i­tu­ally. For the hands-on part, ma­te­ri­als and tools are pro­vided. All works can be col­lected a few weeks af­ter the work­shop ends.

Or­gan­ised by Art­makR, this work­shop is a fun in­tro­duc­tion to quilling which teaches the fun­da­men­tal skills and how to cre­ate ba­sic fig­ures by rolling and fold­ing strips of coloured pa­per to form ba­sic shapes and ob­jects. These will pro­vide you with the cre­ativ­ity to form beau­ti­ful works of art.

Mul­ti­me­dia Univer­sity (Melaka cam­pus) will be host­ing its an­nual Ja­panese Cul­tural Fes­ti­val to pro­mote un­der­stand­ing of Ja­panese cul­ture. This year’s theme is Four Sea­sons. Vis­i­tors can en­joy de­lec­ta­ble Ja­panese cui­sine and snacks, and try on tra­di­tional Ja­panese cos­tumes. There will be games and Ja­panese-themed per­for­mances that will make the night even more en­joy­able. Ad­mis­sion is free.
