En­gi­neer­ing a bright fu­ture

THE School of Sci­ence and En­gi­neer­ing at Ma­ni­pal In­ter­na­tional Univer­sity (MIU) in­tends to be at the fore­front of sci­en­tific and tech­ni­cal ed­u­ca­tion and re­search in the re­gion.

Stu­dents who have com­pleted their Si­jil Pe­la­jaran Malaysia (or equiv­a­lent) and in­tend to pur­sue a ca­reer in en­gi­neer­ing will be given the nec­es­sary the­o­ret­i­cal and prac­ti­cal knowl­edge they need be­fore pur­su­ing a bach­e­lor’s de­gree.

Be­sides the fun­da­men­tal train­ing in sci­ence, math­e­mat­ics and hu­man­i­ties, stu­dents will be ex­posed to the var­i­ous de­vel­op­ment ac­tiv­i­ties de­signed to im­prove their crit­i­cal think­ing and ad­vance their per­sonal de­vel­op­ment. It is im­per­a­tive for fu­ture en­gi­neers to have hands-on ex­pe­ri­ence for their ca­reer ad­vance­ment.

En­gi­neer­ing pro­gramme stu­dents are ex­posed to the fun­da­men­tals of en­gi­neer­ing that pro­vides them the work­ing knowl­edge equipped to work in in­dus­tries like man­u­fac­tur­ing, trans­porta­tion, plant en­gi­neer­ing, oil and gas, process en­gi­neer­ing, telecom­mu­ni­ca­tions in­dus­tries, sys­tems and ar­chi­tec­ture, soft­ware, net­work­ing and se­cu­rity.

The cur­ricu­lum en­sures that the grad­u­ates are well versed in tech­ni­cal knowl­edge with nec­es­sary skill sets re­quired by the in­dus­try. En­gi­neer­ing stu­dents have the ad­van­tage of be­com­ing in­dus­trial pro­fes­sion­als and are groomed with the nec­es­sary soft skills to be high achiev­ers in this com­pet­i­tive field.

En­gi­neer­ing pro­vides a large num­ber of job op­por­tu­ni­ties and spe­cial­ties. Grad­u­ates are spoilt for choice of ca­reer as Project En­gi­neers, In­stru­men­ta­tion En­gi­neers, Ro­bot­ics En­gi­neers, Sys­tem An­a­lysts and Pe­tro­leum En­gi­neer­ing.

Nes­tled amid green hills and flanked by a beau­ti­ful 13-acre (5.26ha) lake, MIU is reg­is­tered as South East Asia’s first ‘Green’ Univer­sity. MIU is highly com­mit­ted to build­ing a cam­pus based on the best green build­ing tech­nol­ogy and has reg­is­tered to com­ply with the United States LEED (Lead­er­ship in En­ergy and En­vi­ron­men­tal De­sign) Plat­inum green build­ing in­dex.

MIU is a mem­ber of the Ma­ni­pal Global Ed­u­ca­tion Group and a fullfledged Malaysian univer­sity of­fer­ing mul­ti­dis­ci­plinary pro­grammes with fo­cus in the fields of Sci­ence, En­gi­neer­ing and Man­age­ment and Busi­ness. It is im­per­a­tive for fu­ture en­gi­neers to have hands-on ex­pe­ri­ence for ca­reer ad­vance­ment. At MIU, en­gi­neer­ing stu­dents are given the ex­po­sure via struc­tured in­tern­ships and also im­mea­sur­able on-the-job train­ing even be­fore they grad­u­ate. This boosts their con­fi­dence and ex­po­sure needed to pre­pare them for work­ing life.

As part of its ex­cit­ing of­fer, MIU is pro­vid­ing 100% schol­ar­ship* on tu­ition fee for Foun­da­tion pro­gramme stud­ies for stu­dents who ob­tain straight A’s in Si­jil Pe­la­jaran Malaysia (SPM). Stu­dents with three cred­its in SPM will re­ceive 40% schol­ar­ship* for diploma pro­grammes, while 50% schol­ar­ship* is given on De­gree pro­grammes based on CGPA.

Stu­dents and their par­ents can visit MIU’s cam­pus for con­sul­ta­tion at its lake­side cam­pus in Ni­lai on all work­ing days from 10am to 6pm.
