Around the globe
SWISS adventurer Xavier Rosset took off on Sunday from Sion, Switzerland, for a trip around the world in a motorised ultralight aircraft.
The 41-year-old former professional snowboarder plans to cover more than 80,000km, and visit at least 50 countries during the trip.
The goal of the journey is to meet new people, experience new cultures, and explore the world, Rosset said before he took off. His motorised hang glider weighs 240kg, has a wing-span of 9.85m and can reach a maximum speed of 157km/h.
The trip, composed of three stages, is scheduled to end in the third quarter of 2019.
For his previous adventure project, Rosset survived living alone on a South Pacific island for 300 days (tinyurl.com/ TedX-Rosset). – dpa
