Picture perfect

SAMSUNG’S new artfully tasteful television The Frame will soon be available in Malaysia.

The Frame isn’t your conventional TV. Instead of fading to black when switched off, The Frame displays artworks and users’ personal photographs – essentially morphing into a digital picture frame when not in use.

“When the TV is on, you can enjoy immersive picture quality, and when it is switched off, you can enjoy works of art,” said Samsung Malaysia Electronics president Lee Sang Hoon at the launch in Kuala Lumpur.

Users can store up to 400 UHD images in The Frame and transfer photos via the Samsung View app (also available for iOS users), or the USB drive. Quickly and easily adjust settings on The Frame with the One Remote Control, which can also be used to control all of your other entertainment devices.

Owners of The Frame will have access to Samsung’s Art Store, a growing library of over 300 pieces by artists from around the world. New owners will get 100 bespoke artworks and six months’ free access to all images in the Art Store.

The No Gap wall mount means The Frame sits flush against your wall just like a photo frame, and thanks to its new Invisible Connection, messy cables are a thing of the past.

The Frame has a brightness sensor that adjusts the displays according to the levels of light in the room. Its motion sensor also detects presence up to 10m in the room, shutting off when it doesn’t notice anyone for over 20 seconds.

The Frame comes in two sizes. The 65in model is priced at RM14,999 while the 55in version has an RM9,999 price tag.

As it is intended to double as a piece of art, The Frame comes with customisable frame options in Walnut, White, and Beige Wood, priced at RM699 (65in) and RM599 (55in).

It will officially make its debut here on Aug 15. — Sharmila Nair
