SHOOT­ING is mak­ing a night owl out of ac­tor Fran­cois Ar­naud (seen here with co-star Sarah Ramos), as the 10-episode su­per­nat­u­ral se­ries mostly takes place af­ter dark. “It was very fun, but it was also gru­elling be­cause, be­ing a genre hor­ror show with vam­pires, a lot of it was shot at night and we’d wrap at 7am or 8am, five times a week,” he shares his film­ing ex­pe­ri­ence with Col­lider.com. “That was dif­fi­cult. I’m not a day-sleeper. By the end of it, they didn’t have to do much make-up on me to make me look tired.”

is based on Char­laine Har­ris’s book se­ries of the same name. (Har­ris also wrote se­ries which in­spired the hit TV show, The show is set in a small town in Texas called Mid­night where many vam­pires and su­per­nat­u­ral crea­tures live. Pro­tag­o­nist Man­fred, played by Ar­naud, is a psy­chic who’s on the run from a mys­te­ri­ous man and seeks refuge in the town. As the veil be­tween the liv­ing and the dead is thin here, Man­fred has to learn to bet­ter con­trol his psy­chic abil­i­ties. The 32-year-old Cana­dian ac­tor – who is best known for his work in the 2011 historical fiction se­ries – shares about por­tray­ing Man­fred: “It felt good to play a char­ac­ter that’s not so skill­ful, and that can be a bit of a goof and a lit­tle bit clumsy.
