Leading provider of medical education
FIVE years of rigorous study and hard work reaped benefits for over 400 graduates of the MBBS and BDS programmes of MelakaManipal Medical College (Manipal University) (MMMC).
The 2017 graduation ceremony was held on July 16 at Dewan Seri Negeri, Melaka, and officiated by Manipal University pro-chancellor Dr H.S. Ballal.
The list of graduates includes Malaysian students and international students from Australia, Maldives, Sri Lanka and Tanzania.
Through its affiliation with the top-ranking Manipal University in India, MMMC is proud to have produced more than 3,400 medical graduates for the Malaysian healthcare system.
MMMC is highly regarded in the country as a provider of high-quality medical professionals.
In fact, its reputation has spread far and wide with many of its alumni spread across the globe.
MMMC’s repute stems from its drive towards excellence in the services it provides to students, which led to an enviable record of accomplishments.
MMMC offers two undergraduate programmes and a pre-university course.
The Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery (MBBS) – the college’s flagship programme – was established 20 years ago, at a time when private medical schools in Malaysia were few.
The second undergraduate programme offered is the Bachelor of Dental Surgery (BDS).
Both MBBS and BDS are twinning programmes.
Students will receive a thorough groundwork in the pre-clinical studies (first phase) at the Manipal campus in India and then return to hone their clinical skills during the second phase of the programme at the campuses in Muar or Melaka.
MBBS students will be trained at the general hospitals in Melaka, Muar, Jasin and Segamat during their clinical posting and also at rural health clinics in and around Melaka.
Meanwhile, dentistry students do not have to venture far except for their rural posting and clinical outreach programmes.
Most of the dental clinical training is completed at the dental clinic at the campus in Melaka.
The dental clinic, run by its Faculty of Dentistry, is comprehensively outfitted for various specialities in dentistry.
With its affordable dental care, it comes as a boon to the community around.
MMMC’s Foundation in Science (FiS) programme, which was established in 2012, is a pre-university programme like no other.
Unlike commercially oriented foundation programmes, FiS is exclusively tailored for students who truly have a passion to pursue their studies in medicine and dentistry.
The incorporation of pre-medical subjects such as Anatomy, Physiology, Pharmacology and Oral Biology enable a smooth transition for students into the first year of medical or dental school.
This is evidenced by testimonials from past FiS students who are currently pursuing their MBBS and BDS at MMMC’s India and Malaysia campuses.
Embarking on a new chapter in education may seem daunting.
With so many institutions to choose from, decision-making becomes an even more difficult task. However, if medicine or dentistry is your calling then look no further.
As a leading provider of medical education, MMMC would be your best choice to get a head start into the medical profession.
Your journey to becoming an adept and compassionate medical professional begins at MMMC.
