Pencuri Hati Mr Cinderella
JUST how many versions of Ayda Jebat’s hit song Pencuri Hati does one person need in their lifetime? Try at least four and listen to all of them over and over again in the Ahmad Idham-directed romantic comedy Pencuri Hati Mr Cinderella. There is a stripped-down acoustic version, a capella with beatboxing, dangdut and rock. I understand Ahmad wants to utilise a popular song to his advantage but less is more...
Fortunately, Pencuri Hati Mr Cinderella has enough charm on its own to keep you engaged in the story about an older rich man (played by Ahmad) falling in love with a GRO (Atikah Suhaime in her best role to date). Call it a major mid-life crisis.
Pencuri Hati Mr Cinderella is a well-developed love story with plenty of humorous moments, some realistic scenes (the characters lamenting about current economic situations) and it actually features two romantic leads having conversations about life and what is going to happen in the future.
While it gets a little tiresome halfway, the movie does build up to an unpredictable ending, and will ultimately steal your heart.
