STEVEN Soderbergh is back in form (after his short-lived retirement) with this fun caper starring an all-round excellent cast including Channing Tatum, Adam Driver and Daniel Craig.
The film has so many set-ups that you lose count of what’s happening on screen sometimes, but that is half the fun. Even when it seems like the plot is plodding, just keep watching because there are pay-offs in almost every scene.
Tatum and Driver play the unlucky Logan brothers – one has a limp and the other has lost his arm in an accident.
These siblings, with the help of their sassy sister (Riley Keough), decide to pull a heist during a Nascar race. For that to happen they get the help of a guy who is incarcerated (a hilarious Craig).
Soderbergh knows how to juggle a lot of characters and plots (he’s done it with the Ocean’s Eleven films), and Logan Lucky benefits from that skill. Under his direction too, Tatum and Driver truly shine. – MB
