Field fix for Mitsubishi models
MITSUBISHI Motors Malaysia (MMM), the official distributor of Mitsubishi Motors vehicles in Malaysia, has issued a field fix for their Lancer and Outlander models imported from Japan and the locally-assembled ASX to replace the engine control relay of the vehicles.
Some 5,000 cars are affected and they include the ASX compact SUV from March 2015 to November 2016, Lancer sedan from December 2014 to February 2016 and Outlander SUV from December 2015 to June 2016.
The relay protects the engine’s ECU from any sudden surge of voltage.
If it is not replaced, the internal parts of the relay may fail and subsequently affect the engine’s ECU function.
Separately, MMM will also be conducting a field fix campaign to replace the passenger side airbag inflator for 115 units of the Pajero Exceed that was manufactured from March 2010 to July 2012.
There is the potential for the passenger side airbag to release metal fragments when deployed and may cause injuries to the driver and is part of the global Takata airbag recall campaign.
“Safety is our utmost priority, thus MMM is taking this initiative to assure customer’s safety and regrets the inconvenience caused to the affected customers,” said MMM chief executive officer Tomoyuki Shinnishi.
MMM will issue notification letters to all affected Mitsubishi owners and the full cost of the replacement will be borne by the company.
