Healthy living fair returns
THE Star Health Expo (formerly known as FitForLife) is set to introduce fun and interesting ways to practise a healthy lifestyle.
It presents the latest products, services and activities which promote health and wellness.
The expo is an initiative under Great Eastern Life’s Live Great programme, the first integrated health and wellness programme by an insurance company in the region.
It aims to assist customers in achieving their health goals, inspiring them to take charge of their health and motivating them with rewards for making healthier choices in life.
The programme comprises five components, namely wellness tools, health tips, workshops and events, plus exclusive privileges and rewards.
Live Great members can take advantage of the 13 wellness tools through the Live Great portal.
With the wellness profiling tool, members can determine their current health status and take the necessary actions to improve their health.
Other useful tools such calculators for body mass index, daily caloric needs and calorie exercise, plus a smoking tracker, are available for specific health issues.
The Live Great portal also provides extensive health articles contributed by experts on a wide range of topics from health and beauty, diet and fitness, well-being and success, to parenting.
Live Great members can receive exclusive invitations to health talks, wellness workshops and financial seminars.
Members of the public who are not Great Eastern Life policyholders can visit the Live Great portal to enjoy healthy living tips, articles and recipes.
They can also use the wellness tools on hand to conduct simple health risk assessments, obtain information on Live Great events such as health and wellness talks, seminars and workshops and look out for promotions offered by Live Great partners throughout the year.
New to the exhibition this year is the Live Great Healthy Cooking Contest, where the final challenge will feature a dish with “110” in the presentation.
This contest is open to all aspiring home cooks to showcase their talents in a cooking competition that will be held this Sunday (Grand Finale).
This year also sees the return of Live Great Dodgeball Open 2018, where aspiring dodgeballers can pitch their way to great prizes.
Eleven Under Armour backpacks will be up for grabs daily at the exhibition for visitors who register. The 11 most creative signatures each day will be selected and the winners will be notified after the event.
Three lucky visitors who preregister ahead of the event will have the opportunity to win two tickets each to Plane in the City, the first dining experience inside a plane in Kuala Lumpur and an Under Armour backpack; the selection will also be based on the most creative signatures.
Besides that, the Great Eastern booth has more attractive activities to offer. There is the Live Great Sky Track, where visitors can test their strength and courage by manoeuvring four unique high rope obstacles up to 6m above the ground.
The first 110 Live Great members to complete the obstacles daily will get to redeem an exclusive gift.
Meanwhile, those who enjoy cycling and car racing will get to burn calories and have fun with the Kinetic Bike Race. The game features a miniature race track with mini race cars powered by the cyclist.
Fans of the Mission Impossible films will get to test their agility, flexibility and strategic thinking to navigate a maze of laser lights without breaking the laser beams.
The Live Great Kinect Workout is an interactive game on the Xbox One that will provide a short workout for all ages, making it a fun activity for families.
Take part in the daily challenge and be in the running to win a preloaded Starbucks card.
Live Great members will win the Starbucks card as well as two Plane in the City tickets.
Another activity is the button badge workshop, where visitors can express their creativity by making works of art on the badges provided. Each participant will also get to take the finished product home.
Live Great Card members can look forward to exclusive product offers, discounts and free redemptions at our Live Great partners’ booth.
Doctor-On-Call will provide complimentary health screenings and virtual consultation to Live Great members.
The first 110 members of the public with the cut-out “Complimentary Consultation” voucher daily from The Star will also get to enjoy the same services.
The other Live Great partners include Yogood and New Balance, which will offer free sampling and special discounts of up to 50% on their products.
Visitors can speak to Live Great advisers from Great Eastern Life on financial wellness covering life protection, medical protection, education and retirement planning.
From the inception of the Live Great programme, Great Eastern Life has organised many successful, popular large-scale events such as the Great Eastern Viper Challenge, Largest Zumba Fitness Party, FitForLife, Jay Chou’s The Invincible World Tour, Live Great runs (3km, 12km and 21km) and Malaysia’s first bubble run – the Great Eastern Bubble Dash Run and Triple Fun Run.
Great Eastern Life policyholders are issued with Live Great Cards entitling them to exclusive health and wellness benefits at more than 1,000 participating partner establishments across South-East Asia.

The Star Health Expo will be held from July 13 to 15 at the Mid Valley Exhibition Centre Kuala Lumpur and from Nov 2 to 4 at the Spice Arena, Penang.
