New Mazda SUV to boost Ber­maz Auto sales

PETALING JAYA: Ber­maz Auto Bhd ex­pects the new Mazda CX-5 five-seater SUV (sport util­ity ve­hi­cle) to hit monthly sales of 500 to 600 units.

“The CX-5 is our pri­mary model. It con­trib­utes to about half of our sales. The trend in the do­mes­tic car mar­ket is strong de­mand for SUVs, and we are fo­cus­ing on im­prov­ing our mar­ket share in this seg­ment,” said Ber­maz Auto CEO Datuk Seri Ben Yeoh at the car’s launch at 1 Utama Shop­ping Cen­tre.

Ber­maz Auto is the dis­trib­u­tor of Mazda cars and spare parts in Malaysia and the Philip­pines.

The CX-5 comes in five vari­ants, con­sist­ing of two 2.0-litre petrol, a 2.5-litre petrol, and two 2.2-litre diesel mod­els.

On the road prices with­out in­sur­ance are RM134,605.50 (2.0-litre GL petrol), RM148,605.50 (2.0-litre GLS petrol), RM160,996.70 (2.5-litre GLS petrol), RM164,579.10 (2.2-litre GLS diesel 2-wheel drive) and RM175,179.10 (2.2-litre GLS diesel all-wheel drive).

All new Mazda ve­hi­cles (ex­cept the BT-50 pick-up truck) reg­is­tered from Feb 1, 2017 en­joy a five-year or 100,000 km (which­ever is first) man­u­fac­tur­ing war­ranty and three-year or 60,000 km free main­te­nance af­ter-sales pack­age.

“We are con­fi­dent the new CX-5 will be well ac­cepted by SUV buy­ers, just like the pre­vi­ous model,” said Yeoh.

Yeoh pointed out that the new CX-5 has many pre­mium com­fort and safety fea­tures.

“It is fun to drive, com­fort­able and well-pack­aged, has a soft lux­u­ri­ous in­te­rior and an at­trac­tive af­ter-sales pack­age,” he said.
