Win­toni seeks to set aside cred­i­tor’s pe­ti­tion

PETALING JAYA: In­for­ma­tion tech­nol­ogy com­pany Win­toni Group Bhd is ap­ply­ing for a court or­der to set aside a pe­ti­tion by a cred­i­tor to wind up the com­pany for non-pay­ment of le­gal fees.

The com­pany said in an an­nounce­ment to Bursa Malaysia that it was not given any no­tice what­so­ever of the wind­ing up process and was not served with the statu­tory de­mand, not served with the pe­ti­tion and it was not served with a copy of the or­der dated Aug 17.

It noted that the debt due to Messrs Syed Ibrahim & Co, the pe­ti­tioner, for un­paid le­gal fees amount­ing to RM516,488 was based on in­voices that the com­pany has no record of nor were there any record of any de­mand for the fees.

In a sep­a­rate state­ment to the stock ex­change, Win­toni said in re­ply to Bursa Se­cu­ri­ties that it was un­able to ob­tain the date in which the pe­ti­tion for wind­ing up the com­pany was served on the reg­is­tered of­fice.

“Af­ter mak­ing due en­quiries with rel­e­vant par­ties in­clud­ing the cur­rent and past com­pany sec­re­tary, we are un­able to ob­tain the date of ser­vice of doc­u­ments to Win­toni. The wind­ing-up or­der was served on the liq­uida­tor on Aug 25, 2017,” the com­pany added.
