DNeX wins In­done­sia marine ca­ble job

PE­TAL­ING JAYA: Da­gang NeXchange Bhd (DNeX), through sub­sidiary DNeX Telco Ser­vices Sdn Bhd, has been awarded a sub-con­tract of marine fi­bre op­tic ca­ble in­stal­la­tion for Telkom In­fra in In­done­sia val­ued at US$3.6mil.

The project was awarded by Pt Bina Nu­san­tara Perkasa, the con­sor­tium com­pany that serves as the main con­trac­tor of the project.

Un­der the project, DNeX in a state­ment said that it would be re­spon­si­ble for the de­sign, con­struc­tion and in­stal­la­tion of about 700 kilo­me­tres of fi­bre op­tic in­stal­la­tion for two lines, namely, Matanusa and SMPCS Patara as part of the In­done­sia Global Gate­way Ca­ble Sys­tem. DNeX will be work­ing with Koku­sai Ca­ble Ship Co Ltd of Ja­pan in this project.

The project, which will com­mence in Septem­ber, is ex­pected to be com­pleted in 131 days.

DNeX had ear­lier yes­ter­day signed an agree­ment for the project with Pt Bina Nu­san­tara Perkasa in Jakarta, In­done­sia.

“We are truly ex­cited to be given the op­por­tu­nity to un­der­take the im­ple­men­ta­tion of marine fi­bre op­tic ca­ble in­stal­la­tion in In­done­sia. Based on our ex­pe­ri­ence in im­ple­ment­ing large-scale ini­tia­tives, we are con­fi­dent of de­liv­er­ing the set re­quire­ments of this project,” said ex­ec­u­tive deputy chair­man Datuk Sam­sul Husin in the state­ment.

He said the project was a strate­gic ex­pan­sion of the com­pany’s IT and e-Ser­vices of­fer­ings, and was achieved through the sound tech­ni­cal knowhow of DNeX that has al­ways been driven by tech­nol­ogy.

“While this is a new line of busi­ness con­tri­bu­tion to us, we are re­ally lever­ag­ing on the en­gi­neer­ing and telecom­mu­ni­ca­tions skill sets al­ready em­bed­ded in the com­pany from its past ex­pe­ri­ence,” he added.
