M’sia to as­sume CPOPC lead­er­ship

PE­TAL­ING JAYA: Malaysia will as­sume the chair­man­ship of the Coun­cil of Palm Oil Pro­duc­ing Coun­tries (CPOPC) from Jan 1, 2019, for a pe­riod of two years.

This was an­nounced fol­low­ing the fifth min­is­te­rial meet­ing of the CPOPC co-chaired by Pri­mary In­dus­tries Min­is­ter Teresa Kok and Co­or­di­nat­ing Min­is­ter for Eco­nomic Af­fairs In­done­sia Darmin Na­su­tion in Putrajaya yes­ter­day.

In a joint state­ment, Kok thanked Na­su­tion for his chair­man­ship and lead­er­ship role.

Dur­ing the meet­ing, the min­is­ters said they were keen to ex­pand CPOPC’s mem­ber­ship base among palm-oil pro­duc­ing coun­tries and had wel­comed Colom­bia as the new­est mem­ber.
