A new chapter for Smart Reader
SMART Reader Worldwide celebrated the official opening of Smart Reader Kids Taman Mawar, Puchong, recently. This marked another milestone in the growth and development of Smart Reader Worldwide.
The event, which was officiated by Ministry of Domestic Trade, Co-operatives and Consumerism deputy secretary-general Datuk Daud Tahir, was attended by over 40 guests comprising parents, teachers and children.
“The opening of a Smart Reader Kids centre is a special event as it endorses the vision of the founders and also displays the insight of the franchisee in selecting the mode of franchising as a business concept,” said Daud when launching the 305th Smart Reader Kids franchise centre.
“I understand that Smart Reader Kids is an award-winning pre-school educational franchise with more than 300 franchise centres in Malaysia. It also expanded its wings internationally by having 150 franchise centres in the Philippines, China, Thailand, Brunei and Middle East.
“The Smart Reader Worldwide franchise is a complete support system which includes management, teachers’ training, legal advice, and research and development. Thus, it has grown as a profitable business recording a steady growth rate and this proves that the franchise business is indeed a successful business model.”
At Smart Reader Kids, children benefit from interacting in a quality pre-school environment that is content-rich with systematic and appropriate information and innovative teaching materials.
With all these plus points, it is no wonder that the organisation bagged the Reader’s Digest trusted Brand Award 2011. This award is significant as it was voted solely by consumers. Smart Reader Worldwide was also certified franchisor of the Largest Chain of Child Enrichment centres in Malaysia. Thus, it has evolved to become the largest educational franchise group in the country.
Daud also commended the franchisee of Smart Reader Kids Taman Mawar, Puchong on a job well done while working positively towards striving for a piece of the world preschool education market.
Romlee Mahran, franchisee of Smart Reader Kids Taman Mawar, Puchong, was with the Ministry of Education as a school inspector for 22 years. His previous job required him to inspect hundreds of schools throughout Malaysia.
He observed that thousands of students were unable to acquire the correct technique of learning English. This was because the methodology applied was insufficient to help students acquire the skills to communicate or speak, read and write in English.
After his retirement about five months ago, he decided to venture into the education business where he could help children to speak, read and write proper English.
The opportunity arose when he found out about the Smart Reader Kids programme. He saw the effectiveness of the programme when he viewed his niece’s tremendous progress after she joined Smart Reader Kids Damansara Perdana.
“In only five months, she displayed remarkable improvement. From zero knowledge, she can now speak, write and read English fluently. I was impressed as the programme applies the phonetic method and enables young children to participate in the learning process,” he said.
“This truly inspired me to venture into the Smart Reader Kids programme.”
Romlee and his wife Doriawati Abdullah, who left a high-paying job as chief executive officer, then took this opportunity to set up a Smart Reader Kids centre. Since then, they have not looked back.
The Smart Reader Kids programme, which has received the thumbs-up from numerous parents, comprises a wide range of subjects, namely, Smart Reader English, Smart Bacaan, Smart Mandarin, Smart Maths, Smart Science, Hygiene, Moral, Smart Computer, Smart Music, Art & Craft and Kindercooking.
Meanwhile, Smart Reader Kids++ programme has been developed to serve families with children from two years plus to 12 years old by providing fun, safe and affordable child care services.
