SEREMBAN: Retired couple A.X. Nathan and Catherine Nirmala can’t wait to put their vocabulary knowledge to test with the return of the Win With Words 2016.

Nathan, 65, is no stranger to contests by The Star, having won a trip to Nepal for two and a laptop previously.

“We are pretty excited and eager to take up this challenge as it keeps my wife and I occupied daily.

“Since we are both retired, coming up with words is a great way to keep our minds from degenerating,” he said in jest after signing up for The Star Bundle and ePaper during a roadshow held at the Palm Mall complex here.

Catherine expressed her gratitude to The Star for organising the contest for readers.

“Although the newspaper is delivered to our home, we decided to sign up to earn an extra 500 points.

“This should give us a headstart and a better chance of winning big,” she said.

Another visitor L.H. Soon, 58, also rushed down to the shopping mall with his family members just to sign up for the ePaper to get additional points.

“I hope to be lucky again this time around as I had also won a cash prize during The Star’s Power of Nine contest several years ago,” he said.

Soon said he usually roped in his wife and children as his teammates as “many minds were better than one”.

“We always do things together and this has paid dividends as my children have also won in other contests,” he said.

Other roadshows coming up are at Gurney Plaza, Penang, from Sept 30 to Oct 2, followed by three other locations – Atria Shopping Gallery in Petaling Jaya, Ipoh Parade and AEON Mall in Bukit Mertajam – from Oct 7 to 9.

From Oct 14 to 16, there will be roadshows in Mahkota Parade, Malacca, and Queensbay Mall in Penang.

The final roadshow is at AEON Tebrau City, Johor Baru, from Oct 28 to 30, which also marks the end of the contest period.

By signing up for The Star Bundle or ePaper at any of these roadshows, subscribers will get an additional 500 points for submissions to the contest.

This is also applicable for those renewing or adding on another year of paper subscription.

In addition, they will stand a chance to win one of the five lucky subscriber prizes, which include a four-day-three-night holiday package to Krabi, Thailand, for two persons and a 40inch Full HD flatscreen TV.

Win With Words 2016 is organised by Star Media Group, in conjunction with its 45th anniversary celebration, with IJM Land and official car partner Naza Kia.

There are four series to the contest with the second – Seremban 2 Series – running until Oct 2.

The first prize winners of each series and six lucky participants from across all the series will then take part in the Grand Finale Challenge on Nov 29 at the venue partner – 1Utama Shopping Centre in Petaling Jaya.

Attractive prizes worth over RM480,000, including two cars, are up for grabs in the contest.

Don’t miss out on the roadshows for that “extra edge” and be sure to be one of the subscribers.
