Moto3 rookie Adam scores points again at Australian Grand Prix

-

PETALING JAYA: Rookie Adam Norrodin claimed his second straight Moto3 points scoring finish after crossing the line in 11th place in the Australian Motorcycle Grand Prix.

The 18-year-old SIC Racing rider fought from 22nd on the grid to bag five points at the Phillip Island circuit yesterday. Adam earned four points for his 12th-place finish at the Japanese Grand Prix last week.

He is now placed 27th in the championship with 14 points after 16 of 18 races.

“I’m so happy with this result, especially after qualifying so far back on the grid. I knew I had to be really strong for this race and make a good result before heading to Malaysia,” said Adam.

But it was a miserable outing for fellow Malaysians Khairul Idham Pawi and Hafizh Syahrin Abdullah as both crashed out on the first lap of their respective races.

Honda Team Asia’s Khairul, a two-time winner in his rookie season, is now 19th in the Moto3 standings with 54 points.

Petronas Raceline Malaysia’s Hafizh dropped one rung to ninth in the Moto2 standings on 106 points.

The riders will now proceed to the Malaysia Grand Prix this weekend.
