KUALA LUMPUR: Pakatan Harapan has officially welcomed Parti Pribumi Bersatu Malaysia (Pribumi) into the Opposition pact. The decision was unanimously made at a meeting of the Pakatan presidential council in Parliament House yesterday.

Pribumi, which is chaired by former prime minister Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad, will be registered as the pact’s fourth member.

“The Pakatan Harapan secretariat will issue a letter to Pribumi informing them of our decision,” the council said in a statement. "The meeting also agreed to organise an immediate discussion among all four parties to draft a joint manifesto and create a new logo.”

The statement was jointly signed by PKR president Datuk Seri Dr Wan Azizah Wan Ismail, DAP secretary-general Lim Guan Eng and Amanah president Mohamad Sabu.

Last week, Dr Mahathir announced that Pribumi would join the Opposition.

The agreement would see Pakatan Harapan parties and Pribumi contesting the next general election under the same banner, with a single manifesto and one candidate per seat to ensure a straight fight with Barisan Nasional.
