Fish­mon­ger elated son a top scorer in SPM

A 45-YEAR-OLD fish­mon­ger in Alor Se­tar, Kedah, is elated that his son scored 10As in the SPM last year, re­ported China Press.

Zhang Zhen Cheng said his son Chun Seang, 17, would study ac­coun­tancy at an in­sti­tu­tion of higher learn­ing in Kuala Lumpur.

“I have al­ways told him not to fol­low in my foot­steps as a fish­mon­ger,” he was quoted by the daily.

For the past 20 years, Zhang’s day has started at 2am at the whole­sale mar­ket in Alor Se­tar.

“My chil­dren know that I only have five hours of sleep. Chun Seang is very dis­ci­plined. He doesn’t need su­per­vi­sion.

“Dur­ing ex­am­i­na­tions, he wakes up early to spend ex­tra hours on re­vi­sion,” Zhang said.

A pic­ture show­ing the fam­ily out in the open went vi­ral on so­cial me­dia prompt­ing ne­ti­zens to lash out at their ac­tions, say­ing they were obliv­i­ous to the dan­ger as had oc­curred in two in­ci­dents where tourists were mauled to death by tigers.

The fam­ily only re­turned to the car af­ter be­ing told twice by the park’s em­ploy­ees.

The daily said Chen still looked slim de­spite be­ing eight months preg­nant.

Chen, a mem­ber of the girl group S.H.E, mar­ried Lai in Malacca in 2012.
