Guang­dong life ex­pectancy to reach 77.8 years

GUANGZHOU: The av­er­age life ex­pectancy in south China’s Guang­dong Prov­ince is ex­pected to reach 77.8 years in 2020 as a re­sult of an im­proved health­care sys­tem, an of­fi­cial doc­u­ment said.

The av­er­age life ex­pectancy grew to 77.1 years in 2015, an in­crease of one year over 2010, 0.8 year higher than the na­tional av­er­age life span, ac­cord­ing to the prov­ince’s 13th five-year-plan (2016-2020) for the health sec­tor re­leased re­cently.

The ma­ter­nal mor­tal­ity rate fell sig­nif­i­cantly to 11.56 per 100,000 in 2015, down 12% from that of 2010.

The in­fant mor­tal­ity rate dived to 2.64 per 1,000 in 2015, down 45.3% from 2010. — Xin­hua
