‘Sorcerer’ runs out of luck

A MAN who conned seven people of RM818,400 by claiming to be a sorcerer has been arrested after he pulled his latest stunt in Puchong, Selangor, Makkal Osai reported.

The man who introduced himself as Dr Uthaya to potential targets was picked up from his luxury bungalow in Setia Alam at 1.40am two days ago after a police stakeout.

The suspect had approached his latest victim, a businessma­n, and apparently asked for RM4,400 to be banked into his account.

He promised to carry out rituals at the victim’s home but cut off all contact soon after, it was reported.

The victim lodged a report at the Serdang police station and an investigat­ion was car- ried out with help from Bukit Aman.

Police believe the man is from Seberang Prai and has been implicated in other cases in Selangor, Johor and Perak.

An investigat­ion by the Central Bureau of Investigat­ion revealed that the Delhi-based firm replaced parts of the tanks with fake cheap parts from China it had claimed were made in Germany.

The factory was paid more than eight million rupees (RM532,000) for replacemen­t works over two years.
