Se­nior cop nabbed for steal­ing from neigh­bour

KAJANG: A se­nior po­lice of­fi­cer was caught red-handed steal­ing from his neigh­bour’s house in Ta­man Bangi Av­enue in Bangi.

Kajang OCPD Asst Comm Ah­mad Dzaf­fir Mohd Yus­soff said the 31-year-old sus­pect, who is at­tached to Bukit Aman, was ini­tially seen by mem­bers of the pub­lic act­ing sus­pi­ciously as he picked the lock of his neigh­bour’s back door at about 5pm on Thurs­day.

Po­lice rushed to the scene af­ter re­ceiv­ing a re­port and found a man with a knife com­ing down the stairs with a bag of stolen items.

“The sus­pect re­sisted as we tried to ap­pre­hend him. But we man­aged to take him to the Kajang district head­quar­ters for fur­ther ac­tion,” he added.

The owner of the house, a fi­nan­cial con­sul­tant, rushed home and con­firmed that the stolen items were his.

Among the items re­cov­ered was a per­sonal com­puter, mo­bile phones and a cou­ple of coin banks.

The sus­pect has been re­manded un­til Mon­day.

In a sep­a­rate case, a 34-year-old In­done­sian maid has been ar­rested for steal­ing money from her em­ployer.

ACP Ah­mad Dzaf­fir said a 67-year-old in­sur­ance agent lodged a re­port that RM1,200 was miss­ing from her hand­bag and sus­pected her maid.

“She re­alised the money was miss­ing and called the driver who was send­ing the maid home to check her bag, and found the cash. He brought her back,” he said.

He said the maid has been re­manded for four days.
