‘No shortage of Deepavali essentials’
Suppliers and traders are cooperating, says Pahang official
RAUB: There are enough supplies of essential items for the Deepavali celebration, especially those under the price control scheme.
The Pahang Domestic Trade, Cooperatives and Consumerism Ministry said the items include lentils and mutton which are usually in high demand during the festival.
“Before fixing the price control, agencies such as the Federal Agriculture Marketing Authority, Veterinarian Department and Lembaga Kemajuan Ikan Malaysia ensured that there is enough supply.
“Suppliers and traders are cooperating. If there is a need, we will increase stocks of the items,” said state director Sharuddin Jali after the launch of the price control scheme at a hypermarket yesterday.
Also present was Batu Talam assemblyman Datuk Abdul Aziz Mat Kiram.
Sixteen items have been put on the list, effective until Oct 22.
Sharuddin said the enforcement division is mobilising 280 officers to monitor prices at hypermarkets, wet markets and retail outlets in the state. — Bernama
