GEORGE TOWN: A five-year-old boy cheated death when he fell off from the fifth floor of his flat when he was left alone at home.

He sustained serious injuries and is still being treated at the intensive care unit (ICU) of the Penang Hospital.

George Town deputy OCPD Supt Izwan Abd Karim said the mother of the boy, known as Dini, was out to pick her second child from a kindergarten in Sungai Ara at 1.20pm when the incident happened.

“The mother left her son, who she claimed to be a hyperactive child, alone at home as he was sleeping.

She believed the boy tried to throw the bicycle down through the window grill and tried to reach it when he fell to the ground floor,” he said.

He said the boy was in critical but stable condition.
