Despatch rider gets jail and rotan for robbery
KUALA LUMPUR: A despatch rider was sentenced to eight years’ jail and two strokes of the cane by the Sessions Court here after he was found guilty of robbery.
Judge Shamsudin Abdullah handed down the sentence on Noorhisham Saifful Mohd, 25, after finding that the defence had failed to raise reasonable doubts against the prosecution’s case.
Noorhisham was charged with another person still at large with robbing a businesswoman Kee Siok Kuen, 38, of her handbag at Taman Sejahtera here at 7.15pm on Dec 1 last year.
He was also sentenced to three years’ jail for causing hurt on a security guard, Ravinder Kurma, 27, of Indian nationality, at the same place, time and date.
