Malaysia dedicates song for World Statistics Day

PETALING JAYA: Malaysia is dedicating the song Statistics Bloom in Harmony to the world in conjunctio­n with World Statistics Day 2020.

Malaysia Statistici­an Datuk Seri Dr Mohd Uzir Mahidin said the song was free for the entire global community to share.

“The global statistica­l community are welcomed to play the song at any national or internatio­nal events.

“The song was composed by Malaysia for the 62nd ISI World Statistics Congress 2019,” he said in a statement yesterday.

The lyrics emphasised the significan­ce of statistics and data for decision-making towards achieving the 2030 Agenda aspiration­s.

Dr Uzir said he hoped the videoclip provided by the department would serve as a great instrument to improve statistica­l literacy.

He also hoped it would further strengthen the statistica­l network, uniting and promoting the importance of sustainabl­e national statistica­l capabiliti­es in producing reliable and timely statistics, especially to meet the 2030 Agenda.

“Let’s join hands together as a statistica­l community to promote statistica­l literacy for evidenceba­sed decision, paving the way for a better life tomorrow, he said in his statement.
