THAI­LAND RAISES 2016 GDP GROWTH FORE­CAST

BANGKOK: Thai­land’s cen­tral bank yes­ter­day raised its 2016 eco­nomic growth fore­cast to 3.2% from 3.1% due to higher than ex­pected pri­vate con­sump­tion, but main­tained next year’s growth out­look at 3.2%. The Bank of Thai­land (BoT) still ex­pects ex­ports to con­tract 2.5% this year but low­ered its pro­jec­tion for 2017 ship­ments to a 0.5% de­cline, rather than no change from 2016. The BoT also cut its fore­cast for head­line in­fla­tion to 0.3% this year from 0.6% seen three months ago, and low­ered its 2017 pro­jec­tion to 2.0% from 2.2%. The Thai econ­omy grew 2.8% last year. – Reuters
