Petronas awards ware­house job to Sinopec

PE­TAL­ING JAYA: Petro­liam Na­sional Bhd (Petronas) has awarded an en­gi­neer­ing, pro­cure­ment, con­struc­tion and com­mis­sion­ing (EPCC) con­tract to the Sinopec con­sor­tium for the con­struc­tion of an au­to­mated stor­age and re­trieval sys­tem ware­house for its petro­chem­i­cal plants at Pengerang In­te­grated Com­plex (PIC). The value of the award was not dis­closed. In a state­ment yes­ter­day, the sta­te­owned oil ma­jor said it had inked the EPCC agree­ment with the Sinopec con­sor­tium that con­sists of Sinopec En­gi­neer­ing (Group) Co Ltd, Sinopec Shang­hai En­gi­neer­ing Co Ltd and Sinopec En­gi­neer­ing Group Malaysia Sdn Bhd.

The con­tract also in­cluded other as­so­ci­ated solid han­dling fa­cil­i­ties for the ASRS ware­house.

It will be Petronas’ first au­to­mated ware­house ca­pa­ble of meet­ing a 21-day stor­age in­ven­tory for poly­mer prod­ucts in PIC, namely polypropy­lene, lin­ear low den­sity poly­eth­yl­ene and flex­i­ble poly­eth­yl­ene.

The project is ex­pected to be com­pleted within 27 months.
