Leopard, python shock villagers
JERANTUT: Settlers at Felda Kota Gelanggi here, were shocked to discover a clouded leopard crouching underneath a house yesterday.
During the 7.30am incident, Ramli Othman, 60, said the wild cat was first spotted by his grandchild who informed him.
With a torchlight in hand, Ramli quickly went to the house with his friend to investigate.
“When we got there we were unable to spot it but heard a loud roar instead,” he said.
The Malaysian Civil Defence Force were then called and with further assistance from the Department of Wildlife and National Parks (Perhilitan), the leopard was then successfully captured.
Meanwhile, in Gelang Patah, a 6.7m python caused a stir when a family stumbled upon it at their Kampung Pok home.
Fire and Rescue Department personnel said a team of five took about 30 minutes to capture the snake at about 10.42am yesterday and it was then handed to Perhilitan.
