GLC RE­TIREES WANT MIN­I­MUM PEN­SION

KUALA LUMPUR: Re­tirees of gov­ern­mentlinked com­pa­nies are ask­ing for a min­i­mum pen­sion of RM800. The Union Net­work In­ter­na­tional-Malaysia Labour Cen­tre (UNIMLC) and unions of em­ploy­ees in GLCs said they had sub­mit­ted a mem­o­ran­dum to Prime Min­is­ter Datuk Seri Na­jib Ab­dul Razak. “Many GLC re­tirees are re­ceiv­ing about RM150 to RM350 monthly – a far cry from the RM820 min­i­mum pen­sion in the pub­lic sec­tor,” UNI-MLC pres­i­dent Mohamed Shafie Mam­mal said in a statement yes­ter­day. – Ber­nama Sul­tan Ibrahim. Jo­hor po­lice chief Datuk Wan Ah­mad Na­j­mud­din Mohd said the 26-year-old was de­tained at a house in Jalan Masjid, Wakaf Baru, Ke­lan­tan, at about 11am. “Po­lice seized a SIM card be­lieved to have been used to post the of­fen­sive re­mark,” he said here yes­ter­day. Po­lice took ac­tion fol­low­ing a re­port made on Sept 29 over the in­sult on Face­book. – Ber­nama
