Gainers edge losers
BURSA Malaysia ended higher yesterday in line with major Asian stock markets, boosted by news of a stronger-than-expected US manufacturing data despite lower oil prices, dealers said.
The FBM KLCI gained 8.70 points to 1,661.25. The composite index opened 5.81 points better at 1,658.36 and moved within a narrow range of between 1,658.02 and 1,666.02 during the day.
On the Bursa scoreboard, gainers led losers 408 to 398 while 364 counters were unchanged, 490 untraded and 18 suspended.
Of the heavyweight counters, Tenaga Nasional gained 4 sen to RM14.34, Public Bank rose 6 sen to RM19.88, Maybank improved 8 sen to RM7.58 and Petronas Chemicals was 5 sen higher at RM6.70. – Bernama
