Gain­ers edge losers

BURSA Malaysia ended higher yes­ter­day in line with ma­jor Asian stock mar­kets, boosted by news of a stronger-than-ex­pected US man­u­fac­tur­ing data de­spite lower oil prices, deal­ers said.

The FBM KLCI gained 8.70 points to 1,661.25. The com­pos­ite in­dex opened 5.81 points bet­ter at 1,658.36 and moved within a nar­row range of be­tween 1,658.02 and 1,666.02 dur­ing the day.

On the Bursa score­board, gain­ers led losers 408 to 398 while 364 coun­ters were un­changed, 490 un­traded and 18 sus­pended.

Of the heavy­weight coun­ters, Te­naga Na­sional gained 4 sen to RM14.34, Pub­lic Bank rose 6 sen to RM19.88, May­bank im­proved 8 sen to RM7.58 and Petronas Chem­i­cals was 5 sen higher at RM6.70. – Ber­nama
