IN conjunction with MODA’s 26th Anniversary celebrations, the MODA SAMSUNG Innovator Awards 2016 was held recently.
It was a platform for some of the most gifted and innovative young designers to collaborate with equally talented hairstylists and make-up artists to present a total look to showcase their exceptional talent and technique for a collective presentation on the runway.
This year, the award took inspiration from the Samsung Galaxy S7 and the Samsung Galaxy S7 Edge and the participants seized this opportunity to showcase imaginative creations that contain unbridled style, intriguing expression and experimental innovation.
Each team comprised a designer who was responsible to create three complete outfits (two for women and one for men) as well as to collaborate with the hairstylist and make-up artist for a cohesive and complete look to entice and excite an electrified audience during the runway presentation.
In the end, representatives from Samsung chose three teams who best envisioned and translated the elements of their Samsung Galaxy S7 phone as inspiration into their collections.
The winners were team Gavin Tan with his hairstylist, Alex Beh and make-up artist, Celine Toh with their entry “Pleasure Expression”; team Trista Lim with her hairstylist, Aaron and makeup artist, Ying Xuan, with their entry of “The Face”; and team Shawn Lee with his hairstylist, William and make-up artist May Tan with their entry “Connection”.
Every team member walked home with a brand new Samsung Galaxy S7.
The winning collection, “Connection”, by Shawn Lee.
