BURSA Malaysia finished marginally lower yesterday, extending last week’s losses on weakening palm oil prices and below expectation US economic data, dealers said.

The FBM KLCI fell 0.06 point to 1,665.32. It opened 0.1 point lower at 1,665.28 and moved between 1,663.25 and 1,669.46 during the day.

Losers beat gainers by 460 to 324 while 365 counters were unchanged, 502 untraded and 27 suspended.

Among heavyweights, TNB was flat at RM14.36, Public Bank eased 10 sen to RM19.78 while Maybank and Petronas Chemicals rose 7 sen each to RM7.70 and RM6.77 respectively.

Meanwhile, regional bourses were traded mixed as investors cautiously watched the second debate between Hillary Clinton and Donald Trump for signs of whether Trump can remain a viable candidate presidential. “The risk of Trump being replaced with another candidate adds a new element of uncertainty for markets,” he said. – Bernama
