Nine cops remanded over ketum
PETALING JAYA: Nine policemen were remanded for consuming “air ketum” and gambling at a food stall in an open-air car park on Wednesday.
However, the suspects were later released on bail as the remand order was only for 24 hours.
Petaling Jaya district police chief ACP Mohd Zani Che Din said the policemen were under Bukit Aman’s Integrity and Standard Compliance Department’s radar for an indefinite period before they were picked up. The incident took place in Jalan PJS 8/15, Bandar Sunway at about 2pm.
“A total of 11 people were arrested, including the stall owner, for selling the ‘ketum’,” he told reporters. – by Ashwin Kumar
