Nine cops re­manded over ke­tum

PETALING JAYA: Nine po­lice­men were re­manded for con­sum­ing “air ke­tum” and gam­bling at a food stall in an open-air car park on Wed­nes­day.

How­ever, the sus­pects were later re­leased on bail as the re­mand or­der was only for 24 hours.

Petaling Jaya dis­trict po­lice chief ACP Mohd Zani Che Din said the po­lice­men were un­der Bukit Aman’s In­tegrity and Stan­dard Com­pli­ance Depart­ment’s radar for an in­def­i­nite pe­riod be­fore they were picked up. The in­ci­dent took place in Jalan PJS 8/15, Ban­dar Sun­way at about 2pm.

“A to­tal of 11 peo­ple were ar­rested, in­clud­ing the stall owner, for sell­ing the ‘ke­tum’,” he told re­porters. – by Ashwin Kumar
