NEW AP­PROACHES TO IM­PROVE PUB­LIC TRANS­PORT

ISKANDAR PUTERI: The Jo­hor state gov­ern­ment is con­sid­er­ing sev­eral new ap­proaches in im­prov­ing the pub­lic trans­port sys­tem in the state. Men­tri Be­sar Datuk Seri Mo­hamed Khaled Nordin said this in­cluded re­strict­ing heavy ve­hi­cles from en­ter­ing cer­tain ar­eas in the city. “The gov­ern­ment will also in­tro­duce other modes of trans­port for de­liv­ery of goods, like trains, which have been found to be cheaper and more en­vi­ron­men­tal-friendly than lor­ries,” he said af­ter of­fi­ci­at­ing at the launch of the Ge­lang Patah Bus and Taxi Ter­mi­nal and Jo­hor Pub­lic Trans­port Mas­ter­plan, here, yes­ter­day. – Ber­nama
