> There is now a new, high-flying way for tourists and Malaysians to get an uplifting look at the beauty of Kuala Lumpur
WHEN it comes to Kuala Lumpur’s city skyline, it is easily one of the most breathtaking in Southeast Asia. The mix of modern skyscrapers and heritage landmarks just makes it an astonishing sight even at ground level.
However, visiting each landmark can be quite a timeconsuming process as traffic in the city centre can be a nightmare.
So, for explorers who want an easy bird’s-eye view of Kuala Lumpur city, Cempaka Helicopter Corporation Sdn Bhd is now offering a service known as the KL Sky Tour.
Guests can hop into a Robinson R44 or Robinson R66 Turbine helicopter, and enjoy a panaromic view of Kuala Lumpur they have never seen before, from up high.
This exciting new tour is an initiative by Cempaka Helicopters in collaboration with Dewan Bandaraya Kuala Lumpur (DBKL) and the Kuala Lumpur Tourism Bureau (KLTB).
The Sky Tour consists of four different packages and flight routes.
The cheapest and shortest is the KL Express, which is a sixminute ride that takes guests for a breathtaking view of the main attractions in downtown, including the KL Tower, Dataran Merdeka, Stadium Negara, and the Petronas Twin Towers.
A longer ride is the 15-minute City Explorer, which will take guests to the same sights as the KL Express but adds in areas like Batu Caves and Jalan Duta for an overview of the Federal Territory Mosque and the new Istana Negara.
For those who would like a little more greenery along the way, they can opt for the Jungle Escape flight.
This 30-minute ride covers all the sites under the City Explorer, and also takes visitors out to Kuala Lumpur’s untouched, pristine rainforests along the The Klang Gates Quarts Ridge (Bukit Tabur) to Batu Dam.
But the most indulgent ride is the Mountain View tour, a 45minute journey at 6,000 feet over valleys and mountains covered in lush rainforests including an unforgettable bird’s-eye view of Resorts World Genting on top of the Genting Highlands.
After that, the helicopter will fly back towards the city for an overall view of Kuala Lumpur.
All flights for the KL Sky Tour depart from the City Helipad at Taman Tasik Titiwangsa, and each flight requires a minimum booking of three passengers.
Prices for the different packages are RM198 per person for the KL Express, RM488 per person for the City Explorer, RM960 per person for the Jungle Escape and RM1,388 per person for the Mountain View.
