Swaps or cash for Samsung Note7 owners
WITH electronics giant Samsung offering swap incentives for its Note7 smartphones, South Koreans have started returning this discontinued smartphone last Thursday.
Two days after the company announced it was killing off this flagship handset over issues with exploding batteries, owners were given the option of a full refund or an exchange for a different Samsung smartphone.
Samsung initially recalled 2.5 million Note7s globally on Sept 2 after reports of units burning up before announcing that it will halt the sale and exchange of the Galaxy Note7 recently, citing continued safety concern.
Meanwhile, Galaxy Note7 pre-order owners in Malaysia can also choose to get a full refund or exchange their device, according to a statement by Samsung Malaysia.
The statement added that the option of a refund or to switch to the Samsung S7 edge will be made available for Galaxy Note7 pre-order owners, operators or participating retail partners respectively.
Details of the refund or exchange programme will be released soon, the statement said.
The company also urged owners to immediately power off their Note7 devices as a precautionary measure.
