The Sun (Malaysia) - - NEWS WITHOUT BORDERS -

GEORGE TOWN: The father of a three-year-old girl who fell from an escalator at a shopping mall in Bukit Jambul on Sunday had his attention diverted from his daughter as he was trying to help his son, whose finger was caught on the escalator.

The father panicked while helping his son, and forgot his daughter was on his shoulders, causing her to fall.

Closed-circuit television camera footage of the 6.40pm incident showed the boy playing on the escalator with a balloon stick. The boy tripped and got his finger stuck while the mother stumbled while trying to help him.

Police said the girl was still unconscious but “there was some movement of her fingers”. – by Edmund Lee
