RM10,000 reward over threats to social activists
KUALA LUMPUR: DAP will offer a cash reward of RM10,000 to anyone with information on the people behind the threats made against several social activists, including Bersih 2.0 chairman Maria Chin Abdullah.
Segambut MP Lim Lip Eng said the bounty is also extended to police personnel with evidence that could lead to the arrest of the responsible parties.
Lim said the party is acting on behalf of the concerned citizens and symphatisers over the threats received by Bersih.
“We are offering a cash reward of RM10,000 to any individual or parties including the police. The information shall lead to the arrest of those who sent terrorising photos to Ambiga, Maria and Mandeep,” he told a press conference at the Parliament lobby yesterday.
Maria revealed on Tuesday that she and her family received death threats via WhatsApp allegedly signed by the Islamic State Malaysia terror cell.
Human Rights Society chairman Ambiga Sreenevasan and Bersih secretariat member Mandeep Singh were also targeted as photoshopped images went viral of a man dressed in black and wearing a balaclava holding Maria, Ambiga and Mandeep at knife point.
