Cook­ing oil to cost more next month

PETALING JAYA: The Cook­ing Oil Price Sta­bil­i­sa­tion Scheme (COSS) will be changed next month as part of the govern­ment’s subsidy ra­tio­nal­i­sa­tion plan.

The Malayan Ed­i­ble Oil Man­u­fac­tur­ers’ As­so­ci­a­tion said in a state­ment yes­ter­day the Do­mes­tic Trade, Co­op­er­a­tives and Con­sumerism Min­istry had in­formed its mem­bers the COSS im­ple­men­ta­tion will be re­struc­tured into two phases – the first phase from Nov 1 un­til the end of the year and the sec­ond phase from next year on­wards.

In the first phase, the 1kg poly­bag will see an in­crease of 40 sen from its cur­rent price of RM2.50 while the 5kg pack will see an in­crease of RM1.90 from the cur­rent RM13.35.
