THERE is no blanket ban on debating the civil lawsuit by the United States Department of Justice (DoJ) against 1Malaysia Development Bhd (1MDB) in the Dewan Rakyat. Speaker Tan Sri Pandikar Amin Mulia said he will make a ruling on whether a certain statement or question during a debate is sub-judice, as and when it arises. “I cannot make a ruling now as the issue has not come up,” he said when Gobind Singh Deo (DAP Puchong) raised a Point of Order to clarify his decision. Minister Datuk Nur Jazlan Mohamed. He said the authorities acknowledged the fact that the conduct of both movements was wrong. “You want police to take tougher action against them. We can, but we want to settle it amicably because it is political and not anything substantial,” he told reporters at Parliament yesterday.
