First Muslim fashion show in Tokyo

FOR the first time ever, a Muslim fashion show is set to take place in Tokyo, the undisputed trendsetter city for Asian fashions. The Tokyo Mod- est Fashion Show runs for two days from Nov 22, and according to organisers, will make Japanese fashion design more international.

Japan is witnessing a boom in tourism, with growing numbers of Muslims from Islamic countries such as Malaysia visiting.

Only 100,000 Muslims live in Japan, which has a population of about 127 million. The largest mosque in Japan was inaugurated just last year in the business city of Nagoya. – dpa
