7 Colom­bians among 10 charged with theft, rob­bery

KUALA LUMPUR: Seven Colom­bian and three lo­cal men were charged yes­ter­day in the mag­is­trate’s court here with be­ing mem­bers of a break-in and rob­bery gang called “Latino Dago”.

No plea was recorded from the ac­cused – Fredy Is­mael Ber­nal Gon­za­lez, Jose Ai­mando Rocha, Martines Ser­ano Dagob­erto, Jeifry Ro­has Romero, Jhon Alexan­der Rocha Lugo, Jorge Alexan­der Sabugai Pena and An­der­son Mar­cel Va­len­cia Cu­bil­los, aged be­tween 30 and 45.

The three lo­cals were ho­tel agent Red­huan Mahid­din, 50, his car sales­man younger brother Abdul Rah­man, 47, and Mohd Rizal Md Sa­hak, 41, a car wash op­er­a­tor.

They al­legedly com­mit­ted the of­fences in Kuala Lumpur, Selangor and Kedah be­tween Jan­uary and Sept 22.

The charge, un­der Sec­tion 130V(1) of the Pe­nal Code, car­ries a max­i­mum im­pris­on­ment of 20 years.

Red­huan and Abdul Rah­man were rep­re­sented by coun­sel Mohd Yusri Mohd Yu­soff, while the rest were un­rep­re­sented.

Deputy pub­lic pros­e­cu­tor Mo­hamad Mustaffa P. Kun­yalan did not pro­pose bail as all 10 ac­cused were be­ing de­tained un­der the Se­cu­rity Of­fences (Spe­cial Mea­sures) Act 2012.
