FINED FOR THREATS

KUALA LUMPUR: A tech­ni­cian was fined RM1,000, in de­fault one month’s jail, by the mag­is­trate’s court yes­ter­day for crim­i­nally in­tim­i­dat­ing his cousin’s fam­ily. G. La­maaran, 21, pleaded guilty to threat­en­ing to cause harm to S. Em­muel, 27, by say­ing: “If any­thing hap­pens to your fam­ily, don’t ask me and if I cut you or your fam­ily, do not ask me as well.” He com­mit­ted the of­fence at No. 45, Jalan PJS 10/11b, Sub­ang Jaya, on May 25. The of­fence, un­der Sec­tion 506 of the Pe­nal Code, car­ries a jail term of up to seven years or a fine, or both. – Ber­nama
