Teen held over brutal murder
JOHOR BARU: A mentally-ill suspect arrested in connection with a gruesome murder in Tangkak on Sunday has been remanded for seven days.
The remand order was issued by magistrate Maslinda Selamat at the Tangkak magistrate’s court yesterday.
The 19-year-old suspect was brought to the court at 9.15am and will be investigated under Section 302 of the Penal Code for murder.
On Sunday, the dismembered body of a male youth was found in five plastic bags in the compound of a house in Kampung Kesang Laut.
Tangkak district police chief Supt Mohad Idris Samsuri said the house owner contacted police after he made the gruesome discovery. The victim’s head was found buried near the house.
Police believe the crime may have been committed at another location. Based on the condition of the remains, the victim may have been killed four days ago.
