Teen held over bru­tal mur­der

JO­HOR BARU: A men­tally-ill sus­pect ar­rested in con­nec­tion with a grue­some mur­der in Tangkak on Sun­day has been re­manded for seven days.

The re­mand order was is­sued by mag­is­trate Maslinda Se­la­mat at the Tangkak mag­is­trate’s court yes­ter­day.

The 19-year-old sus­pect was brought to the court at 9.15am and will be in­ves­ti­gated un­der Sec­tion 302 of the Pe­nal Code for mur­der.

On Sun­day, the dis­mem­bered body of a male youth was found in five plas­tic bags in the com­pound of a house in Kam­pung Ke­sang Laut.

Tangkak district po­lice chief Supt Mo­had Idris Sam­suri said the house owner con­tacted po­lice after he made the grue­some dis­cov­ery. The vic­tim’s head was found buried near the house.

Po­lice be­lieve the crime may have been com­mit­ted at an­other lo­ca­tion. Based on the con­di­tion of the re­mains, the vic­tim may have been killed four days ago.
