IGP: Sanjeevan acting out of spite
KUALA LUMPUR: Police have refuted allegations by MyWatch chairman Datuk R. Sri Sanjeevan on corruption involving police top brass, saying it was done out of spite over action against him.
Inspector-General of Police Tan Sri Khalid Abu Bakar said: “I will not respond to his desperation. He has made a report with the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission and I leave it to them.”
Sanjeevan had lodged a report alleging a high-ranking police officer owned a RM5.5 million mansion in Mantin, Negri Sembilan, and called for the officer to be investigated.
Since his arrest in June for allegedly extorting RM25,000 from a businessman, Sanjeevan had taken the police to task.
He was re-arrested for other offences after his release and was later charged with several offences, including extortion.
