KUALA LUMPUR: Taxpayers paid up RM1.71 1 b i l l i o n in outstanding taxes between March 1 and Aug 31 under an offer of a reduction of penalty for voluntary disclosure, the Dewan Rakyat was told yesterday.
Deputy Finance Minister Datuk Othman Aziz said RM1.407 billion of the sum was income tax involving 20,092 cases. Another RM304 million were penalty receipts involving 32,207 cases.
