BN rep re­ferred to rights com­mit­tee

THE state assem­bly re­ferred Datuk Mat Nadzari Ah­mad Dahlan (BN-Batang Kali) to the Rights and Priv­i­leges Com­mit­tee for claim­ing that the Se­lan­gor govern­ment does not give royal in­sti­tu­tions due recog­ni­tion.

Mat Nadzari ut­tered the state­ment dur­ing his bud­get de­bate speech on Nov 1 as the state op­po­si­tion co­or­di­na­tor.

Speaker Han­nah Yeoh (DAPSubang Jaya) said Mat Nadzari was given am­ple op­por­tu­nity to re­tract his state­ment but he re­fused to do so.

She said the com­mit­tee will con­vene within a few weeks and Mat Nadzari will be called to ex­plain his state­ment.

Yeoh, who chairs the com­mit­tee, said Mat Nadzari will be be given an op­por­tu­nity to clear him­self.

“The com­mit­tee will put for­ward a rec­om­men­da­tion to the De­wan, which can be dis­ci­plinary, and the House will de­bate it,” she said.

Yeoh said this will pro­vide Mat Nadzari sev­eral stages to clear his name be­fore any ac­tion is taken against him.
