MAMSB in talks with cur­rency whole­salers on ru­pee is­sue

PETALING JAYA: The Malaysian As­so­ci­a­tion of Money Ser­vices Busi­ness (MAMSB) said it is cur­rently en­gag­ing all rel­e­vant par­ties in­clud­ing cur­rency whole­salers, in find­ing a so­lu­tion to the is­sue of de­mon­eti­sa­tion of the 500-ru­pee and 1,000-ru­pee cur­rency notes.

In a state­ment last Fri­day, MAMSB said in the mean­time, peo­ple who pos­sess 500-ru­pee and 1,000-ru­pee notes and are not trav­el­ling to In­dia by Dec 30, 2016 may reg­is­ter their de­tails with the as­so­ci­a­tion so that it can up­date them on any de­vel­op­ments re­gard­ing the mat­ter.

The pub­lic can reg­is­ter their de­tails – name, na­tion­al­ity, email ad­dress, mo­bile num­ber, amount of ru­pees in pos­ses­sion – through the as­so­ci­a­tion’s email at ad­min mamsb.org.my.

The pub­lic may also call the as­so­ci­a­tion at 03-7722 5808 to reg­is­ter.
